Social media calculator

This calculator helps you estimate basic social media metrics from your own counts, rates, and time period. On Calculators Wiki, it is meant for quick planning, not exact forecasting.

Use it when you want a simple check on reach, engagement rate, or how many posts you may need to hit a target. Social platforms change how they show content, so any result is only an estimate.

If you want a related number for website traffic, a conversion rate calculator can help with the next step. For general guidance on how platforms work, see Pew Research Center).

How it's calculated

Common formulas

  • Engagement rate = (likes + comments + shares + saves) ÷ impressions × 100
  • Reach rate = reach ÷ followers × 100
  • Posts needed = target total interactions ÷ average interactions per post

Example

If a post gets 240 likes, 30 comments, 20 shares, and 10 saves from 8,000 impressions: - Engagements = 240 + 30 + 20 + 10 = 300 - Engagement rate = 300 ÷ 8,000 × 100 = 3.75%

If you average 75 interactions per post and want 900 interactions in a month: - Posts needed = 900 ÷ 75 = 12 posts

These formulas are simple and useful for rough planning, but they do not account for paid promotion, audience overlap, or platform-specific ranking rules.
