Length Converter

The length converter lets you change a measurement from one unit to another—feet to meters, miles to kilometers, and so on. It uses the standard conversion factors defined by the International System of Units (SI) and the U.S. customary system.

Calculators Wiki provides a simple interface for these conversions without extra frills. Just pick the source unit, enter the number, and choose the target unit to get the result.

How it's calculated

Basic formula

Length conversion is a multiplication by a constant factor:

`result = input_value × conversion_factor`

The factor depends on the two units. For example, 1 mile = 1.60934 kilometers.

Worked example

Convert 5 miles to kilometers:

  1. Identify the factor: 1 mile = 1.60934 km.
  2. Multiply: 5 miles × 1.60934 km/mile = 8.0467 km.

The calculator applies the same steps for any pair of units listed in its table.
